Washington - Saba:
US President Donald Trump denied granting exemptions for some electronic devices from tariffs, saying in a post on Truth Social that these products are still subject to the existing 20% tariff.
He added, according to Bloomberg, that "these products are subject to the existing 20% fentanyl tariff and are now being moved to a different tariff category," referring to the tariffs he imposed on China, Canada, and Mexico as part of pressure on these countries to prevent the flow of the drug into the United States.
The exemptions, published by US Customs and Border Protection late Friday, narrow the scope of the tariffs by excluding the products from Trump's 125% tariffs on China and the global baseline 10% tariff on virtually all other countries.
