The World Health Organization (WHO) reported that the “Israeli” blockade is preventing repairs to Al-Ahli Al-Maamadani Hospital in Gaza City, which has been rendered non-operational following an airstrike.
According to WHO spokesperson Margaret Harris, the hospital is no longer able to admit patients or provide medical services. She noted that the laboratory and radiology departments suffered severe damage, and it is currently impossible to bring in the equipment or spare parts needed due to the imposed blockade.
Harris added that 40 critically ill patients cannot be transferred to other hospitals, and several medical staff members have remained inside the hospital to care for them despite the risks.
WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus confirmed that the hospital is no longer functional due to the “Israeli” strike.
The airstrike, carried out by Zionist aircraft early Sunday, caused fires in several departments of the hospital and led to its complete shutdown.
Al-Ahli Al-Maamadani Hospital, located on the northern outskirts of the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood in southern Gaza City, is one of the city's oldest medical institutions, founded in 1882.
