Gaza – Saba:
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has confirmed that the Gaza Strip is experiencing a state of "suffocation" due to the deliberate deprivation of the population of basic necessities for survival.
It stated: "The interruption of vital supplies has exceeded 50 days without food, fuel, or health and commercial supplies entering the besieged Strip."
The UN Office added in a statement published Saturday, by the Palestine newspaper, that people in Gaza have been deprived of basic necessities for survival, explaining that hospitals and health centers are facing a severe shortage of medical supplies, while water supplies are declining catastrophically, and food stores are nearly depleted.
It indicated that bakeries have been closed due to a shortage of fuel and raw materials, leaving residents without safe sources of bread, in light of the lack of fuel even for home cooking.
The statement described the suffering of Gaza's population as "deliberate and intentional deprivation," manifested in the destruction of water infrastructure. Reports showed that 66% of water tanks and 33% of desalination plants have been destroyed, while groundwater wells—the sole source of water—operate at less than 20% of their previous capacity.
It emphasized that bakeries have been forced to close due to a lack of cooking fuel.
Aid organizations confirmed that citizens receive only 3 liters of water per day, an amount less than the minimum required for survival.
The Zionist enemy resumed its war on the Gaza Strip on March 18, killing and wounding thousands, while tightening its siege by closing the crossings and completely preventing the entry of humanitarian, food, and medical aid for more than seven weeks.
