The acting governor of Taiz, Ahmed Al-Masawi, along with the head of the Water Resources Authority, Hadi Quraya, inaugurated on Monday the economic empowerment project to distribute cows to productive families in Khadir district .
The SAR 300 million project, funded by the province's Agricultural , Fisheries Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit, aims to contribute to the localization of the dairy industry by distributing 550 heads of productive cows with concentrated feed to targeted families in four districts as a first phase.
During the launch, Al-Masawi explained that 45 heads of cows were distributed today as the first installment of the first phase, which targets 150 beneficiaries in the directorate. He stressed the importance of this project in developing livestock, localizing dairy production, and reducing the import bill for these products.
For his part, the provincial undersecretary for development affairs, Abdul Waseem Al-Shamsi, explained that this project is a first step to enhance local dairy production and reflects the government's interest in encouraging families to produce and contribute to strengthening the local economy. He pointed out that the project will include all districts of the province.
For his part, the Director of the Agricultural and Fisheries Finance Unit, Mohammed Heba, confirmed that the project will continue to include in its first phase 550 beneficiaries in the districts of Khdeir, Taiziyah, Maqbana and Mawiya, where pastures, water and expertise in livestock development are available, while the second phase will include the rest of the districts.
The agricultural sector official, Engineer Abdullah Al-Jundi, explained that this project is considered one of the important projects in the economic empowerment of families in the production and marketing of milk to cover the local market, as well as the development of livestock.
