The Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement mourned on Tuesday the death of Sheikh Hussein Atwi, a leader in the Islamic Group in Lebanon, who was martyred following an attack on his car on the Baaourta road in the Mount Lebanon area.
In a condolence statement, the movement expressed "pride and deep sorrow," extending heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the leadership, members, and supporters of the Islamic Group over Dr. Atwi’s martyrdom.
The movement praised the martyr, affirming that "he was a steadfast fighter who dedicated years of his life resisting the enemy in southern Lebanon and near our occupied land."
The statement added: "He devoted his knowledge, efforts, and struggle for the sake of pleasing God and supporting the resistance in Lebanon and Palestine."
Islamic Jihad emphasized that "Martyr Atwi will remain alive in the memory of fighters for his unwavering stance against falsehood, his heroic perseverance in times of danger, and his great sacrifices for the dignity of his people and nation."
