Dhamar - Saba:
The "Easy Plowing" initiative for tough arable lands was launched on Thursday in Ans District, Dhamar province.
The initiative is being implemented by Ans Multi-Purpose Agricultural Cooperative Association, the Maifa’at Ans Agricultural Cooperative Association, and the Rural Yemen for Grain Production Association.
The initiative, coordinated with the Four Seasons Multi-Purpose Agricultural Cooperative Association, Agricultural Cooperative Union branch, and the Bonyan Development Foundation, aims to plow approximately 220 hectares of tough lands belonging to 280 farmers in the areas of Rabat Imran, Qa’ Shar’a, Qa’ Bilsan, and Qa’ Samah Abasir. This effort is part of a broader project to expand the cultivation of wheat, corn, and legumes.
During the launch, Ali Atef, the Province Deputy, emphasized that this step aligns with efforts to increase agricultural land and encourage farmers to prepare tough lands for the upcoming farming season. He highlighted that this initiative reflects the directives of the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council to achieve agricultural advancement and enhance food security.
He also stressed the importance of collective efforts to reclaim and utilize lands for rain-fed cultivation of wheat, corn, and legumes, starting this season, praising the agricultural cooperative associations for their active participation in the initiative.
For his part, Mohammed Imran, Secretary-General of the Local Council in the district, noted that this initiative encourages farmers to plow and cultivate their tough lands. He urged farmers to take advantage of available resources and expedite land reclamation.
Meanwhile, Engineer Jabr Al-Dhahla, Director of the Agriculture Office in the district, and Mohammed Al-Hajj, Chairman of the Ans Agricultural Cooperative Association, explained that plowing tough lands through this initiative represents a crucial step in encouraging farmers to expand agricultural production.
They pointed out that the plowing process will be carried out using machinery provided by the associations at symbolic prices to incentivize farmers to reclaim neglected lands.
