The committee tasked with preparing standards and measurements for petroleum and minerals held a meeting in Sana'a on Saturday, chaired by Deputy Minister of Oil and Minerals Mohammed Al-Najjar, to discuss the executive steps for drafting the specifications , standards manual for petroleum and minerals in the Republic of Yemen.
The meeting comes as part of the government's efforts to regulate the oil and minerals sector and ensure the quality of petroleum products in accordance with technical and international standards, safeguarding consumer rights and promoting transparency in the local market.
The session reviewed the technical and legal challenges related to preparing the manual, as well as mechanisms for standardizing measurements and revising the standard specifications for petroleum and mineral products to align with local and international requirements.
The Deputy Oil Minister emphasized the manual's importance in enhancing oversight of petroleum product quality and regulating markets, noting that this step is part of a comprehensive plan to reform the oil sector and curb unregulated practices.
For their part, committee members expressed their commitment to completing tasks within the specified timeline, focusing on the technical and economic aspects of the manual to ensure the desired objectives are achieved.
