Occupied Quds - Saba:
The Israeli army radio revealed on Saturday the details of the initial investigation into the Shuja'iyya battle east of Gaza City, which resulted in the death of an officer and a fighter in the undercover unit, and the injury of several enemy soldiers, including a brigade commander.
The radio stated that a force from the 16th Reserve Brigade set out on Friday to carry out an offensive operation about 1.5 kilometers from the border fence, which included sweeping and destroying infrastructure in the Shuja'iyya neighborhood, before remaining to carry out an ambush by fighters from the "Yammas" special unit (the undercover unit).
The radio reported that during the ambush, an armed Palestinian cell arrived at the site, and a clash erupted inside one of the buildings, resulting in the death of a member of the undercover unit.
When Israeli enemy forces attempted a rescue operation, additional forces were called in, and the fighting to rescue the wounded continued for two full hours.
According to the investigation, Hamas elements fired at least five times, including anti-tank missiles, at the rescue forces.
An anti-tank missile was also fired at a military vehicle on its way to evacuate the wounded, moderately wounding a soldier. Later, a tank belonging to the 46th Battalion was hit, but no casualties were reported.
The radio reported that approximately an hour after the first clash, an anti-tank missile was fired at another tank from the 46th Battalion. This time, the missile hit its target, killing a battalion officer and wounding another soldier.
The investigations also indicated that approximately half an hour later, another anti-tank missile was fired at the force, and the militants began firing small arms fire, wounding two more soldiers.
Israeli media also reported that among the wounded was the commander of the Israeli army's "Quds Brigade," who sustained serious injuries, along with six other soldiers who sustained varying degrees of injuries.
