Occupied Quds - SABA:
A former official in the Israeli occupation army stated that the military is now incapable of achieving the envisioned victory in Gaza and defeating Hamas and the resistance, attributing this to the extent of the problems the army is facing and the exhaustion it is experiencing.
Major General Yitzhak Brik, former Commander of the Southern Corps and Military Colleges in the enemy's army, affirmed that all the destruction seen in the Gaza Strip gives a superficial sense of victory, something Netanyahu and coalition ministers are attempting to promote, whereas the reality is that victories have not been achieved, because "Hamas still exists in the thousands within the underground city of tunnels."
Brik added that Hamas fighters are conducting guerrilla warfare, often emerging from the tunnels at night in small groups to plant explosives and booby traps on roads and inside homes, before retreating back into the tunnels.
The retired general believes that the method of raids and aerial bombardments allows soldiers to rest from combat but does not enable them to win the war, as Hamas fighters have repeatedly returned to the same areas the Israeli army had captured and then abandoned, carrying out difficult operations from there.
He continued: "For this reason, the Israeli army is unable to defeat Hamas, and Hamas has suffered significantly less damage than the army has claimed, having now returned to its original strength."
Brik posed a question to Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir, asking whether he has an innovative strategy to achieve what his predecessor failed to accomplish, particularly given the state of fatigue afflicting the army in terms of both manpower and equipment.
He added: "It is time for the Chief of Staff to present the truth to the Cabinet and demand the release of all prisoners under the second-stage agreement previously signed and violated by Benjamin Netanyahu, and to call for the immediate rebuilding of the army."
