Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold a meeting of the Council for Strategic Development and National Projects Friday.
The meeting will focus on launching a new package of national projects aimed at achieving Russia's development goals through 2030 and extending its vision through 2036.
According to Sputnik, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin will present a report during the meeting. First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov will also deliver a presentation on ensuring technological leadership in the space and bio-economy sectors, while Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev will review developments in the implementation of the national project on "unmanned aerial systems."
The Russian national space project is expected to receive significant discussion. The government had previously announced its support for the project on May 20, according to Dmitry Bakanov, head of the Russian Space Agency (Roscosmos).
During his participation in the "Digital Industry for Russian Industry" conference in Nizhny Novgorod, Bakanov indicated that "the national space project includes the launch of 886 satellites within the Rassvit broadband internet system, in addition to 114 satellites dedicated to remote sensing." He explained that the Russian Ministry of Finance has approved funding for the project in the amount of 4.5 trillion rubles.
Work on this project began in October 2023, after President Putin instructed the Russian government, during a special meeting on the development of the space sector, to prepare a national project aimed at supporting the domestic space industry, services, technologies, and products.
Putin emphasized at the time that one of the priorities of the national project is to promote basic research in the field of deep space, as Russia possesses promising capabilities and expertise in this field.
