US President Donald Trump on Monday described his former ally Elon Musk's decision to establish his own political party as "ridiculous".
On Saturday, Musk announced the formation of his own political party, dubbed "America's Party".
"I think a third party is ridiculous," Trump told White House reporters, according to Sputnik. "We've had tremendous success with the Republican Party. The Democrats have lost their way, but it's always been a two-party system, and I think a third party adds to the confusion."
This development comes amid Musk's disagreement with Trump's bill, which cuts federal spending but also provides significant tax breaks. Musk has again proposed establishing a new political party in the United States, saying the country is now "one party".
Responding to Musk's criticism of the bill, Trump said that without support, "he'd have to close up shop and go home to South Africa."
