Al-Bayda - SABA:

A meeting was held today in Al-Bayda Governorate, chaired by Governor Abdullah Idris, to discuss the implementation of a solar-powered street lighting project for the main roads in the cities of Al-Bayda and Rada’a. The project, with a total cost of 100 million riyals, will be jointly funded by the General Electricity Corporation and the local authority.

The meeting, which was attended by Deputy Governors Abdullah Al-Jammali and Ahmed Al-Sayqal, reviewed a report presented by Engineer Mohammed Al-Hattami, Director of the Al-Bayda Electricity Zone, regarding the feasibility study for the solar lighting project. The project aims to eliminate reliance on the traditional electricity grid by using clean and renewable solar energy.

According to the report, lighting units will be installed on existing poles, with repairs carried out on damaged ones. Some units will also be installed on residential walls. The project includes the installation of 377 electric poles in Al-Bayda City and 417 in the streets of Rada’a City.

Governor Idris emphasized the importance of this project, which will provide necessary street lighting and improve the visual and service-related appearance of both cities. He noted that this project is one of the priority initiatives supported by the Government of Change and Development and the local leadership of the governorate.
