Rome - Saba:
The World Food Programme (WFP), a United Nations agency, has warned of an outbreak of famine in the Gaza Strip, in light of the sharp decline in humanitarian aid, stressing that the situation there is unprecedented.
The program said in a statement on Friday that some families informed its teams that their children were not eating at all throughout the day, reflecting the extent of the worsening food crisis.
It added that the situation in Gaza is unprecedented in the world, stressing that a ceasefire has become an urgent humanitarian necessity to ensure the delivery of food and aid to the population.
The program indicated that sufficient food supplies are available for the population of the Strip for two months, but clarified that its entry requires the unfettered opening of all crossings.
Since October 7, 2023, the enemy, with American support, has been committing genocide in the Gaza Strip, including killing, starvation, destruction, and displacement, ignoring international appeals and orders from the International Court of Justice to stop it.
