The Minister of Economy, Industry, and Investment, Engineer Muin Hashem Al-Mahqari, inaugurated on Wednesday the operations of the Electricity and Renewable Energy Center laboratories at the Yemeni Authority for Standards, Metrology, and Quality Control.
During the inauguration, Minister Al-Mahqari toured the laboratory sections and received a briefing from the Executive Director of the Authority, Sam Al-Bashiri, on the laboratory equipment and the services provided by the center. These services include testing various electrical appliances, renewable energy systems, and electrical connections.
The minister noted that the center is equipped with devices for testing electrical sockets, wiring, and other tools, particularly household electrical appliances, to ensure consumer safety when using electrical products, including home appliances and energy systems.
During the ceremony, the Minister of Economy, Industry, and Investment praised the technical level of the laboratory’s equipment. He stressed the importance of simplifying procedures, expediting inspections, and establishing flexible mechanisms to ensure smooth testing processes, thereby enhancing mutual trust between merchants and the Authority.
Minister Al-Mahqari described the new laboratory as a qualitative addition to the Authority’s efforts to protect consumers and prevent the entry of non-compliant electrical appliances and connections, which drain both citizens and the national economy.
For his part, the Executive Director of the Standards and Metrology Authority stated that the Electricity and Renewable Energy Center marks a new milestone in the Authority’s journey to support innovation and apply standards related to renewable energy and electrical products in line with the center’s service guide.
He affirmed that the Authority is steadfastly working to provide the best technical and environmental solutions while ensuring public safety. The center will serve various vital sectors by conducting studies and research on clean energy and covering all inspections of electrical goods, products, and household appliances, in addition to developing technical and procedural regulations and standards.
Al-Bashiri added that the center will provide necessary technical support to the industrial sector to enhance competitiveness, reduce carbon emissions, and contribute to balancing economic progress with environmental protection, while ensuring consumers have access to safe, high-quality goods and products.
