Sana'a - Saba:
The Traffic Police announced the publication of a list of penalties for motorcycle traffic violations, approved by a Cabinet decision, with enforcement set to begin in the first week of August 2025.
The list includes financial and administrative penalties for nine traffic violations considered among the leading causes of accidents and congestion on public roads. Penalties vary based on the violation committed and will be doubled for repeat offenses.
Brigadier General Dr. Bakil Al-Barashi, Director General of Traffic Police, stated that the aim of the list is not solely punitive but rather to protect lives and regulate traffic. He noted that motorcycles have become a significant part of road traffic but require regulations to ensure public safety.
He emphasized that the system is not restrictive but rather a safety measure, and compliance from all will lead to safer roads. Following the traffic awareness campaign launched earlier in July, the Traffic Police will conduct field operations to enforce the new penalties in coordination with relevant authorities.
Al-Barashi stressed that enforcement will be strict and fair, calling on citizens to cooperate in building a disciplined traffic environment that safeguards lives and property.
Violations covered by the list include riding without license plates, wrong-way driving, running red lights, not wearing helmets, carrying more than one passenger, using noisy devices and prohibited headlights, random parking in roundabouts , intersections, driving on sidewalks , medians, and other dangerous violations.
The Traffic Police urged the public to respond positively to these efforts to help achieve the desired goals and outcomes.
