Sana’a - Saba:

Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Abdulrahman al-Jumai on Monday followed part of the meeting of the Joint Committee of the “Justice, Awqaf and Codification of Islamic Sharia Provisions, Public Freedoms and Human Rights Committees,” along with several permanent parliamentary committees.

The Joint Committee, chaired by Abdullah Hassan Khairat, held a session attended by Minister of Justice and Human Rights Judge Mujahid Ahmed to discuss the Ministry of Justice’s implementation of the Change and Build Government Program and the recommendations issued by the Parliament.

Minister Mujahid reviewed the ministry’s efforts in executing the government program and parliamentary recommendations, as well as the role of the Judicial Inspection Authority according to the judicial reform plan.

The committee also addressed speeding up case resolutions, reducing delays, resolving field issues during litigation procedures, developing the Higher Judicial Institute, increasing its capacity and outputs, and achievements within the government program and council recommendations.

In a related development, the Transport and Communications Committee, chaired by Deputy Speaker al-Jumai, convened a meeting with committee rapporteur Qasim Nasr Hubaish and other members, attended by Minister of Communications and Information Technology Engineer Mohammed al-Mahdi.

The meeting discussed the committee’s inquiries raised to the ministry regarding its organizational structure, the establishment of the General Authority for Information Technology and Cybersecurity under Republican Decree No. 44 of 1446 AH, the supervisory and oversight roles over telecommunications, postal services, and the performance of mobile companies, emphasizing service quality, public commitments, and reconsidering unit costs charged by these companies.

The committee also reviewed parliamentary recommendations not yet implemented by the ministry. Minister al-Mahdi affirmed the ministry’s commitment to executing the program’s requirements and council recommendations, pledging to provide a comprehensive report to the committee.

Additionally, the Services Committee held a meeting chaired by Engineer Ali Ghalib al-Kaboudi, partially attended by Deputy Speaker al-Jumai, the General Authority for Lands’ Undersecretary Ali Jassar, and other specialists.

The session focused on assessing the authority’s implementation of the government program and council recommendations. Following extensive discussion, the authority committed to responding to the committee’s observations and matrix in the upcoming meeting.
