Spy cell confessions reveal US targeting of Yemen's agricultural sector
[Wed, 12 Jun 2024 18:08:03 +0300]

SANA'A June 12. 2024 (Saba) - In various ways, the agricultural and livestock sector in Yemen has been systematically targeted by the American enemy over the past years to prevent the advancement of this vital sector and to play its role in supporting the national economy and achieving self-sufficiency in agricultural and livestock production.

The confessions of the members of the spy cell published by the security services show the extent of the conspiracies that the agricultural sector has been subjected to since the Eighties of the last century, and the moves that the Washington embassy in Sana'a was making in coordination with the US Department of Agriculture and the intelligence agency to thwart any trend towards agricultural production and promotion.

Spy Amer Abdulmajid al-Aghbari is one of the most important people recruited by American intelligence to work for it, and they were entrusted with many tasks to destroy the agricultural sector in Yemen.

Al-Aghbari started working as a local expert in the USAID horticulture improvement project in 1987, and got to know the project manager, Ahmed al-Askari, a US intelligence officer, and then worked under the direct supervision of fruit expert and US intelligence officer "Raymond Weil" to target the agricultural sector through many projects.

According to the confessions of the spy al-Aghbari, the deputy director of the American agency, "Rudy Figel," offered him to work with the American intelligence in the field of fruit to transport most of the pests and pesticides with high toxicity to various provinces, he agreed and played that role until 1990.

In 1995, the spy Amer al-Aghbari moved to work on the forest improvement project of the Swiss government, implemented by the FAO in coordination with the American intelligence, where coordination was carried out to hinder agriculture in the targeted provinces "Hajjah, Mahweet, Taiz and Hodeida" through the spread of pests and trees that reduce the soil, and the transfer and spread of dangerous agricultural pests in those provinces.

In 1996, al-Aghbari worked within the national project for the exploitation of environmental resources of the United Nations Development Program, through which he worked on destroying the soil and breaking water barriers, which had a great impact on reducing soil and reducing agricultural production in Yemen.

After the end of the project, he moved to work for the United Nations Development Program within the local community development project, through which he worked in five governorates, including Mahweet, Hodeida, Aden and Hadramaut, on the spread of animal diseases, which had a significant impact on animal production, in addition to targeting farms and various bee species in the targeted provinces.

Between 2009 and 2010, al-Aghbari worked as an agricultural marketing specialist at the US embassy, working in coordination with the US Department of Agriculture to combat Agricultural Marketing and target local production of agricultural crops through a series of activities targeting post-harvest operations.

These destructive activities and tasks also included promoting American products, coordinating with traders and importers in order to flood the local market with American products and attracting traders and officials to facilitate the import process, in order to ensure the country's continued dependence on imports in a holistic manner for all its food needs of agricultural products, primarily cereals.

In addition, al-Aghbari worked during the period 2009-2021 to implement the American directives to target and destroy the agricultural sector, especially during 2017 and 2018, which witnessed the beginning of the agricultural renaissance in the country as a result of the attention paid by the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council to this sector to contribute to achieving food security and self - sufficiency.

The spy admitted that during this period he worked on raising information about the country's interests and orientations regarding agriculture, monitoring the level of expansion in wheat cultivation, working on preparing destructive plans with US intelligence to combat Yemen's orientation towards agriculture, and work on flooding markets with foreign products to hit local production.

According to the confessions of the member of the spy cell Hisham al-Wazir, Al-aghbari is one of the most important people who worked during the eighties and nineties to destroy agriculture in Yemen in coordination with the Americans and Israelis.

He said that spy al-Aghbari contributed significantly to the fight against important agricultural crops that provide income to Yemen, such as almonds, persimmons, oranges, and others, and he was spreading agricultural pests directly in coordination with corrupt officials in the Ministry of Agriculture, and he has financial corruption networks through which he achieves these goals.

According to the confessions of the members of the spy cell, the US side systematically targeted the agricultural sector by producing and multiplying agricultural pests in the laboratory, and then spreading them in agricultural areas, in addition to destroying seeds and replacing them with imported hybrids that contributed to hitting the production capacity of farmers, and made farms dependent on seed production companies outside Yemen.

The American conspiracies also included working to destroy the soil through fertilizers and poisons distributed free of charge to farmers, emptying research institutions of their content, disrupting their role by diverting their course in favor of research serving the American orientation, in addition to spreading epidemics in livestock through free vaccines that later caused the death of large numbers of animals.
