BRUSSELS August 19. 2024 (Saba) - The European Union considered 2023 to be the "deadliest" year ever for those working in the humanitarian field.

This came in a statement on the occasion of World Humanitarian Day, which falls on August 19 of each year.

The European Union's foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, and the European Commission's member for crisis management and humanitarian aid, Janez Lenarcic, said: The world has witnessed a humanitarian tragedy in the last 10 months in the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank.
