Napoli moved to the top of the Serie A table after beating Empoli with a clean sheet in the eighth round of the competition late on Sunday.
Napoli are indebted to Georgian player Khvisha Kvaratskhilia who scored the only goal of the match in the 63rd minute from the penalty spot.
With this victory, Napoli raised their tally to 19 points at the top, three points ahead of second-placed Juventus, while Milan are in third place with 14 points and a goal difference from fourth-placed Inter Milan.
On the other hand, Empoli's position is complicated to remain in 11th place with ten points.
The win is Napoli's sixth in the competition, against a draw and a loss, as they move steadily towards their quest for the Serie A title.
