The Ministry of Youth and Sports agreed to contribute to the maintenance and restoration of a thousand archaeological manuscripts at its own expense, as part of the project to preserve the national manuscript heritage at the House of Manuscripts in Sana'a.
The Minister of Culture and Tourism, Dr. Ali Al-Yafei, explained in a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that an agreement was reached with the Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Muhammad Al-Mawlid, to restore a thousand manuscripts at the expense of the ministry as part of efforts to enhance areas of cooperation between state agencies in the government of change and construction, and to contribute to the project to preserve the national manuscript heritage and protect it from extinction.
He expressed his thanks for the contribution of the Minister of Youth and Sports, within this first-of-its-kind national project, which aims to save the national manuscript heritage from extinction, noting that everyone who contributed to it will be immortalized in the history of maintenance and restoration work at the House of Manuscripts.
The Minister of Culture and Tourism welcomed any contributions that serve the framework of preserving the identity and cultural and civilizational heritage.
It is noteworthy that the manuscripts whose restoration process is scheduled to be launched soon amount to six thousand manuscripts as a first stage out of about 17 thousand manuscripts, in need of maintenance and restoration, including various human sciences and knowledge.
