The Russian Federal Security Service thwarted a military intelligence operation planned by Kiev to hijack a helicopter dedicated to electronic warfare belonging to the Russian Space Forces.
The Federal Security Service stated in a statement today, according to TASS Agency, that the Russian Federal Security Service thwarted an operation by the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense intelligence to hijack a helicopter dedicated to electronic warfare purposes, type “Mi-8MTBR-1” belonging to the Russian Space Forces.
According to the statement, Ukrainian military intelligence officers attempted to recruit a Russian military pilot with the aim of hijacking the plane to the territories under the control of the Ukrainian forces.
The statement stated that in the details of the failed Ukrainian operation, Kiev intelligence planned for the Russian pilot to poison his comrades to facilitate the hijacking of the helicopter.
Last June, the Russian Federal Security Service announced that it had thwarted an attempt by Ukrainian security forces to hijack a Russian Air Force Tu-22M3 bomber outside the country.
