Minister of Transport and Public Works Mohammed Quhaim and Director General of Traffic Maj. Gen. Dr. Bakil al-Barashi officially inaugurated on Saturday the network connection and information integration between the Ministry of Transport and the General Department of Traffic Police.
This new initiative aims to enhance the organization and efficiency of land transport across the country.
The launch event included a briefing on the current progress of various departments within the Ministry of Transport, as well as an overview of the traffic services provided to citizens.
Discussions also covered ongoing and future development projects aimed at improving traffic management and safety.
During the inauguration, Minister Quhaim and Maj. Gen. al-Barashi also discussed a proposed project to create free model rest stops for road users.
These rest stops would serve drivers and passengers who experience breakdowns or need to pause for prayer and rest during long journeys. The initiative is designed to improve road safety and offer convenience for travelers.
The Minister also received an update on the passenger pick-up and drop-off stations project and efforts to rehabilitate and organize urban transport, particularly in areas with frequent traffic accidents. Measures to address accident-prone zones were also discussed.
Minister Quhaim praised the significant strides made by the Traffic Police in enhancing traffic management, commending the high performance and professionalism of the officers in organizing traffic flow.
He emphasized the Ministry's commitment to supporting the Traffic Police’s efforts to improve road safety and instructed Ministry specialists to work closely with the Traffic Police to implement necessary traffic improvements.
In response, Major General al-Barashi expressed appreciation for the Ministry's support and collaboration in implementing joint efforts that directly benefit citizens.
He highlighted the importance of ongoing cooperation among all relevant parties to fulfill the objectives of the national development plan and enhance overall traffic safety.
