Gaza - Saba:
Khan Younis Municipality has warned that the supply of fuel needed to operate water , sanitation facilities , pumps , waste collection and removal mechanisms has been stopped for almost a week, due to the intransigence of the Zionist side in entering fuel for the UN agencies and institutions operating in Gaza Strip.
It stressed in a statement today that the cessation of fuel supply will lead to the cessation of the basic services of Khan Yunis Municipality in the water, sewage , waste collection and removal sectors from work , the spread of environmental and health disasters resulting from the cessation of sewage stations and the resulting flow of sewage in the streets and the spread of more diseases and epidemics among citizens.
Khan Younis Municipality pointed to the inability to operate water wells and desalination plants, depriving more than 1,200,000 citizens and displaced persons of their most basic rights to have access to clean drinking , usable water, to stop collecting , removing waste from neighborhoods and displacement camps, which will result in the spread of health hazards and deadly diseases among citizens.
It called on donors and UN organizations concerned with human life to pressure the Israeli side to resume supplying local authorities in the Gaza Strip with the fuel needed to operate water wells, desalination plants, sewage pumps, and waste collection and removal mechanisms.
Khan Younis Municipality called for pressure on the Israeli side to allow the entry of machinery, spare parts and equipment necessary for work to avoid the collapse of the service system, which has been severely damaged by the ongoing Israeli war on Gaza Strip.
