Dakar – Saba:
Some 7.3 million Senegalese voters went to the polls on Sunday to vote in the parliamentary election to choose 165 deputies to parliament.
According to AFP, journalists said dozens of people lined up outside polling stations in central Dakar.
Voters in Senegal continue to cast ballots in legislative elections as the country's leaders seek the widest possible majority to implement the political agenda that brought them to power eight months ago.
Polling stations opened gradually from eight in the morning (local time and GMT) and closed at six in the evening.
President Baciro Diomaye Faye hopes to give his party a clear majority, which would enable him to advance his reform plans.
The government needs a 60 percent majority to review the constitution without a referendum.
