Tehran-Shaba:
The Iranian Foreign Ministry on Friday called on Ukraine to stop its support for terrorism in the West Asian region, especially Syria.
It demanded an end to activities that violate international law.
Responding to reports that Ukrainian officials are involved in illegal trade of US-supplied weapons and support for terrorist groups in Syria, Iran's Assistant Foreign Minister and Director of Eurasia Department Mojtaba Demirchelo said in a statement: "This action is a blatant violation of states' international obligations related to preventing and combating terrorism, and we call on Ukrainian officials to stop these activities immediately."
"Using these groups to destabilize the West Asia region is an immoral policy and contrary to all international legal principles and norms," the statement said. He warned that the alliance with terrorism only leads to more violence and insecurity, with negative effects on its supporters.
In another context, Demirchelo denounced the "repeated and unjustified allegations" made by Ukrainian officials regarding Iran's role in the Ukrainian conflict. The Iranian Foreign Ministry reiterated Tehran's stance on Iran's role in the Ukrainian conflict, saying that it is aimed at "identifying with the United States , the Zionist entity , begging for financial and military support from the West."
The Iranian Foreign Ministry emphasized Tehran's rejection of the war since its inception. It called on the conflicting parties to adopt dialogue as a means to reach a diplomatic solution to the conflict.
