Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Friday confirmed that the information received indicates that the United States and Britain in particular support terrorist organizations in northern Syria.
The "Russia Today" website quoted Lavrov as saying, in an interview with the American journalist Tucker Carlson, in response to a question about who supports the terrorist groups that launch attacks on Syrian areas, that Russia has information on this subject, and would like to discuss this matter with all its partners, especially those participating in the "Astana Format" to discuss ways to cut off the financing channels of terrorists and their weapons.
Lavrov explained that the information available in the public domain refers in particular to the Americans, the British and others, and some indicate that "Israel" has an interest in making the situation worse so that the Gaza Strip does not remain under international attention, expressing his hope that the meetings scheduled to be held this week will help stabilize the situation in Syria.
The Russian Foreign Minister considered that the Astana format meetings on Syria constitute a useful link for the participants, and that the participating countries Russia, Iran and Turkey discuss developments in the situation in Syria.
