Jawf - Saba:

Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources Dr. Radwan al-Rubai and Jawf governor Faisal Haidar inaugurated on Sunday a series of agricultural projects in the province, valued at YER 2.35 billion.

The projects, implemented over the past year, include the procurement and delivery of combines to the Seed Multiplication Foundation at a cost of YER 840.5 million, and a seed loans program under the Grain Project valued at YER 557 million. Additionally, a project to rehabilitate canals and protect agricultural lands with retaining walls was completed at a cost of YER 240.5 million.

Other projects included providing production supplies, constructing a storage facility and hangar for grains, and supporting plowing initiatives, with a total cost of YER 275.1 million, funded by the General Authority for Grain Development and Production.

Further efforts encompassed the rehabilitation and maintenance of housing units, two wells, and two tanks within the residential complex, as well as the construction of agricultural tracks and levees, costing YER 195.4 million. The renovation of the agricultural institute and nursery, furnishing of facilities, and establishment of a central veterinary clinic were also undertaken at a cost of YER 96.6 million.

Community-led agricultural initiatives and projects supported by development partners were completed at a cost of YER 145 million.

During the inauguration, Dr. al-Rubai stated that these fully implemented projects would play a pivotal role in advancing the agricultural sector in Jawf, enhancing food security, and working toward self-sufficiency.

He praised the support of development partners, particularly the General Authority for Grain Development and Production, the local authorities in Jawf, the Agricultural and Fisheries Projects Financing Unit, and other contributors.

Dr. al-Rubai emphasized the ministry’s commitment to implementing more projects in Jawf in the future and called for collective efforts to expand agricultural lands and cultivate various grain crops to reduce reliance on imports and achieve self-sufficiency.

A Step Forward for Jawf Agriculture
Governor Faisal Haidar hailed the projects as a transformative step for the province's agricultural sector, boosting productivity, particularly in grain cultivation.

He expressed confidence that these initiatives would encourage local authorities and development partners to undertake more projects.

The governor extended his gratitude to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources for its ongoing support in making Jawf a model agricultural province.
