Baghdad - Saba:
The US presence in Iraq poses a major threat to the country's national security, according to Iraqi Fatah Alliance member Ali al-Fatlawi, on Sunday.
He stressed that this presence has become a greater threat to the stability of the region in general.
Al-Fatlawi said in a statement to the Iraqi Information Agency: "The United States cannot provide good for Iraq because it is the basis for the destruction of many peoples , has become a real threat to national security and the region in general."
He stressed "the need to remove US forces from Iraq and proceed with the recent agreement with the government." "The United States is seeking to postpone the implementation of this agreement, justifying its continued presence by the volatile regional conditions," he said.
"Their presence was initially under the pretext of helping the security forces, but today it has become necessary for them to leave to ensure the country's sovereignty and its ability to manage its affairs away from US interference," he said.
Observers have previously suggested that the US administration will use the current tensions in Syria and developments in the current situation as a pretext to extend the presence of its forces in Iraq.
