The office of the General Authority for Zakat in Sana'a Province inaugurated on Wednesday the project of distributing in-kind grain zakat to the poor and needy under the title "Give your right on the day of its harvest".
During the inauguration in Mnaha district, Ali Al-Saqqaf, Undersecretary of the General Authority for Zakat, praised the awareness level of the province people, and their keenness to pay their zakat first.
He called on taxpayers to take the initiative to hand over their zakat to the Zakat Commission, as it is the concerned party in collecting zakat and disbursing it to its beneficiaries, according to its legitimate expenses specified by God Almighty in His Holy Book.
He urged farmers to pay attention to agriculture and adopt new ways and methods to develop it to reach self-sufficiency and achieve food security, especially in light of the exceptional stage the country is going through as a result of the ongoing aggression.
The director of the Zakat Office in the province, Abdulwahab al-Thaif, explained that 22,722 cups of grain will be distributed according to a mechanism prepared for field disbursement to beneficiaries in the province's districts.
For his part, Mounir Al-Kabsi, director of Manakha district, praised the Zakat Commission's keenness to distribute zakat according to its legitimate banks. He called on merchants and citizens to cooperate and hand over the zakat they owe to the authority.
In turn, the director of the authority's office in the directorate, Abdul Rahman Muharram, explained that the total in-kind zakat of grains in the directorate amounted to 850 cups, which will be distributed according to the disbursement mechanism to its beneficiaries in the areas and villages of the directorate. He praised the keenness of the people of the directorate in handing over their zakat and their sense of responsibility towards this obligation.
