An Iraqi security source confirmed, today, Thursday, the launch of a security operation in the western part of the Hamrin Hills in Kirkuk.
The source said in an interview with the Iraqi "Al-Maalouma" Agency: "A joint security force set out from two axes to carry out a combing operation in the western part of the Hamrin Hills in Kirkuk."
"The operation is taking place within slopes that were targeted by Iraqi "F-16" aircraft yesterday evening after a cave was spotted where a terrorist cell was hiding," he added.
He pointed out that "the operation is taking place within an intelligence map that accurately identified the location of the targeted cave directly in order to determine the number of dead among the terrorists."
It is worth noting that the airstrikes have succeeded in recent months in killing dozens of ISIS members by identifying the hiding places of terrorist cells.
