The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) managed to thwart terrorist attacks against a high-ranking officer in the Defense Ministry and a military blogger, Russian media said on Saturday.
The Russian news agency TASS quoted the Public Relations Center of the Federal Security Service as saying that a Russian citizen had been arrested on charges of preparing for terrorist attacks, on the instructions of the Ukrainian military intelligence.
"The Federal Security Service thwarted terrorist acts planned by the Ukrainian special services against a senior military officer in the Defense Ministry and a military blogger covering the events of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine," the Center said.
As a result, a Russian citizen was arrested, who contacted an employee of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine, named Andriy, through the Telegram application.
"On the orders of the Ukrainian services, the attacker obtained a homemade explosive device hidden in the Moscow region weighing about one and a half kilograms of TNT equivalent in a plastic box with a magnetic fixation and metal elements in the form of camouflaged balls placed in a portable loudspeaker device.
The citizen carried out reconnaissance activities in the places where the targets of the attacks were located to carry them out in the future by remote detonation," the Center added.
The Center noted out that the detainee is now cooperating with the investigation authorities. Investigations and investigations continue with the documentation of all the detainee's illegal activities.
