Brussels - Saba:
European Council President Antonio Costa called for the need for the ceasefire agreement in Gaza to allow safe, rapid and unhindered access to humanitarian aid and pave the way for the start of the reconstruction of the Strip.
Costa said in a post on his social media account last night that he met with Palestinian Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed Mustafa in Brussels.
He explained that the European Union remains committed to a just, comprehensive and lasting peace based on the two-state solution.
The European official added: "We will continue to provide humanitarian aid and support UNRWA and the Palestinian Authority."
For her part, European Parliament President Roberta Metsola expressed her happiness with the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, stressing that the immediate priority is to ensure the achievement of the agreement's objectives.
She added in a message she posted on social media that the agreement should be the cornerstone for lasting stability, peace, reconstruction and restoration of services in Gaza.
Metsola said that it is time to invest in the recovery of the Gaza Strip.
On Wednesday evening, Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman announced the success of mediators Qatar and Egypt in reaching a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, noting that its implementation will begin next Sunday.
This comes on the 468th day of the Israeli war of extermination on the Strip, which, with American support, has left more than 157,000 martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 11,000 missing.
