German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock confirmed that her country is well prepared for the second term of US President-elect Donald Trump.
Baerbock explained in special statements to the "Berlin Playbook" podcast affiliated with the "Politico" news magazine today, Friday: "We, as Europeans and Germans, have previous experience with Trump's first term."
She added: "Over the past years, and especially since I took office, we have worked intensively within the European framework to strengthen our position as Europeans and build strategic confidence that enables us to face future challenges."
Baerbock also touched on Trump's recent statements regarding territorial claims related to Greenland, Canada and the Panama Canal, stressing the need for European countries to confidently defend their interests and the existing international order. Donald Trump is scheduled to be sworn in for his second presidential term next Monday.
