Paris - Saba:
Stock market indices declined on Monday amid concerns about the consequences of the new tariffs announced by Donald Trump on global economic activity.
According to Agence France-Presse, the US currency rose by 1.15% against the euro at around 8:30 GMT to $1.0245 per euro.
Cryptocurrencies also declined as a result of investors' fears of these assets, which they are liquidating to compensate for their losses in other markets facing difficulties after Trump's announcement.
US President Donald Trump carried out his threats on Saturday to impose new tariffs on Canada, Mexico and China, by 25% on products coming from Canada and Mexico and an additional 10% on those already imposed on Chinese products.
