London - Saba:
British media reported that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is ready to attend an emergency summit of European Union leaders scheduled to be held tomorrow, Monday, in Paris.
Earlier, American media reported, citing Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski and sources, that French President Emmanuel Macron invited European leaders to an emergency summit in Paris on Monday to discuss the challenges posed by US President Donald Trump.
Reports indicated that Starmer is ready to join EU leaders at an emergency summit on Monday after the United States urged them to present "ideas" or be marginalized from talks on peace plans for Ukraine.
The reports also quoted the British Prime Minister as saying that Europe must "take a greater role in NATO."
Earlier, European leaders in Brussels insisted on the participation of Kiev and the European Union in peace talks on Ukraine, without which "the peace agreement will not succeed."
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, in turn, supported the peace talks on Ukraine and advised the Europeans to "stop complaining" about not being invited to the negotiating table and start putting forward specific initiatives for a peaceful settlement.
Russian President Vladimir Putin had a phone conversation with Trump on February 12, which lasted about an hour and a half. They discussed issues related to the exchange of detained and imprisoned Russian and American citizens, as well as the settlement of the situation in Ukraine.
