London - Saba:
Pro-Palestinian activists sprayed red paint and smashed the windows of the BBC headquarters in London, accusing it of complicity in the extermination of Palestinians.
The Palestine Action movement website published a statement yesterday, Monday, which read: “Activists targeted the BBC headquarters in Portland Place in London today. They covered the building with blood red paint and smashed windows in protest at the BBC’s continued complicity in the genocide of Palestinians through its pro-Israel bias in its coverage of the conflict.”
According to the movement’s statement, the red paint symbolizes “the corporation’s responsibility for the bloodshed in Gaza.” The activists point out that the BBC is involved in “whitewashing the atrocities committed by the Zionist entity” through non-objective coverage of current events. They accuse the company of downplaying “the occupying entity’s violence against Palestinians” and failing to provide “a platform for Palestinian voices.”
The statement indicated that this is the second time that Palestine Action has targeted the BBC.
At the end of 2023, the BBC faced a wave of criticism amid accusations of bias in its coverage of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
Meanwhile, in late 2023, the British public criticized the BBC for refusing to describe Hamas members as "terrorists", after which the network's headquarters in London was sprayed with red paint.
Since January 19, a ceasefire has been in place in the Gaza Strip as part of an agreement reached between the Zionist entity and Hamas to release Israeli prisoners in exchange for the release of Palestinian prisoners from Israeli prisons.
