The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Sana'a launched today the food basket project, on the occasion of the advent of the holy month of Ramadan.
The project aims to distribute 3,200 food baskets consisting of "wheat, sugar, oil and soup", presented as a gift from the Iranian Embassy in Sana'a to the institutions of martyrs, wounded, orphans and Yemen Steadfastness.
At the launch, the embassy secretary in Sana'a, Zahra Al-Sayed Ahmed, explained that the embassy took the initiative to provide the food basket as a gift from it to the families of martyrs, orphans, wounded and the weak.
"Given the friendly and historical relations between the two brotherly countries, the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Yemen, and given the siege imposed by some countries on the oppressed people in Yemen, and in light of the advent of the month of Ramadan, we seize the opportunity and provide this modest food basket," she said.
Zahra Al-Sayed indicated that the food basket will be distributed to 950 food baskets for the Martyrs Foundation, 950 food baskets for the Wounded Foundation, 450 food baskets for the Orphan Development Foundation, and 250 food baskets for the Yemen Thabat Foundation.
Meanwhile, the Executive Director of the Martyrs Foundation, Hassan Jarran, the Deputy Executive Director of the Orphan Development Foundation, Dr. Abdul Karim Hamid, and the Projects Director of the Wounded Foundation, Amer Ali, expressed their appreciation to the Iranian embassy for providing this food basket that will contribute to alleviating the suffering of the families of martyrs, the wounded, and orphans.
They praised this kind initiative that will contribute to planting a smile on the lips of orphans, families of martyrs, the wounded, and the oppressed, and preserving their human dignity, especially with the advent of the holy month.
