New York - Saba:
The Permanent Representative of the State of Palestine to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, sent three identical letters today, Thursday, to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the President of the Security Council for this month (China), and the President of the United Nations General Assembly, regarding the continuation of the Zionist entity, the occupying power, of its military attacks against the Palestinian civilian population in the occupied Palestinian territory, noting in particular the intensification of its aggression on the occupied West Bank, including East Quds.
The Palestinian News Agency said that Mansour referred in his messages to the martyrdom of a number of Palestinians, including a child from the town of Qabatiya, south of Jenin, and the continued targeting of Palestinian families and civil society organizations in occupied East Quds by the Zionist entity, which exposes hundreds of Palestinians to the risk of their homes being seized and their forced displacement, especially in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, in addition to the continued Zionist violations of the historical and legal status quo in Al-Aqsa Mosque, including tightening restrictions on the entry of Muslim worshipers, increasing Jewish extremists’ incursions into the holy place, and escalating threats to destroy Al-Aqsa, which could lead to the outbreak of a religious war with dire consequences.
Mansour also pointed out that the Zionist entity continues its illegal measures against UNRWA in occupied East Quds, referring to the order of the Zionist enemy forces to close UNRWA schools in the city, and storming the organization’s Qalandia Training Center, indicating that these illegal measures deprive hundreds of children and youth of their right to education, and violate the United Nations Privileges and Immunities Agreement, in addition to the Zionist entity’s clear violations of its obligations as an occupying power under the Fourth Geneva Convention.
Mansour called on the international community, including the Security Council, to take urgent action to confront the ethnic cleansing of Palestine that the Zionist entity has been insisting on for decades, noting that the enemy entity continues to brag about its criminal plans to empty the occupied Palestinian territories of Palestinians, including through the so-called "voluntary migration", in addition to its intentions to annex the Palestinian territories that it occupies illegally.
Mansour stressed the need for the international community to demand that the Israeli entity respect its international legal obligations, stressing the need to seek accountability and impose consequences in light of the ongoing and deliberate violations, including through working with the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court, and imposing an immediate arms embargo.
Riyad Mansour, Permanent Representative of the State of Palestine to the United Nations, confirmed at the end of the letters the Palestinian leadership’s absolute rejection of any attempts to forcibly transfer the Palestinian people from any part of the occupied Palestinian territory, including the Gaza Strip, explaining that the forcible transfer or transfer of civilians from the occupied territories is prohibited under international humanitarian law and international criminal law, and constitutes a war crime and a crime against humanity, stressing the need to stop this ongoing catastrophe against the Palestinians, by ending the illegal Zionist occupation of the Palestinian territory.
