The Economy, Industry and Investment Minister Moeen Al-Mahakri was briefed on Thursday on the work progress in one of the new pharmaceutical factories in Sana'a province.
Minister Al-Mahakri, along with Deputy Minister of Industry Ayman Al-Khalqi, listened to an explanation from the factory's administrative and technical staff about the production activity, which amounts to 50 pharmaceutical items, including dialysis solutions, tablets and liquids, in addition to 60 new items that are being finalized for inclusion in the production plan.
The Economy Minister expressed his satisfaction with the advanced level of the factory's equipment and commitment to the best pharmaceutical manufacturing standards and practices, as well as the factory's plans to develop the production process.
He also visited the Khairat "Yam" factory for the production of salsa, pulp and mango paste concentrates in western Sana'a province and reviewed the progress of construction work at the factory.
The factory officials confirmed that the installation of the production lines is expected to be completed within three months.
The Economy Minister Al-Mahakri praised the orientation of national capital to such investments that rely on local raw materials, absorb farmers' products, contribute to achieving additional value for agricultural products, and prevent depression for agricultural products in seasons of abundance.
He reviewed the progress of the production process in one of the factories producing sanitary diapers for children in western Sana'a province, and listened to an explanation from factory officials about the production capacity, which currently reaches 200,000 pieces per day and is capable of doubling production by 300 percent.
The Minister stressed that the Ministry is working on the path of localizing and protecting local industries and achieving added value to the national economy, by providing support and assistance to local factories to cover the needs of the local market and protect local products from imported products, stressing the local factories commitment to the highest quality standards and providing products at appropriate prices for citizens.
The Minister praised the responsibility and awareness shown by the national capital in moving towards productive projects and keeping pace with the plans and strategies of the government of change and construction to make a qualitative leap in local industrial activity, enhance national industrial capabilities, reduce dependence on imported products and work to push the national economy to broader horizons.
