Aston Villa held Liverpool to a 2-2 draw in the match that took place yesterday evening, Wednesday, in the 29th round of the English Premier League.
Liverpool wasted two valuable points in its quest to get closer to winning the title.
Egyptian Mohamed Salah began scoring for Liverpool in the 29th minute, continuing to score for the fifth consecutive match in the competition, strengthening his lead in the tournament's top scorers list this season, after raising his tally to 24 goals, five goals ahead of his closest pursuer, Norwegian Erling Haaland, Manchester City striker. Belgian Youri Tielemans equalized for Aston Villa in the 38th minute, while Ollie Watkins added the second goal for the home team in the third minute of stoppage time in the first half.
In the second half, Trent Alexander-Arnold equalized for Liverpool in the 61st minute, assisted by Salah, and both teams tried to snatch the winning goal during the remaining time of the match, but to no avail, so each club got one point.
With this result, Liverpool raised its score to 61 points at the top of the standings with 60 points, while Aston Villa raised its score to 39 points in ninth place.
