The European Union expressed its "deep regret" over the US decision to impose tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada, warning that this could disrupt global trade and threaten economic stability on both sides of the Atlantic.
European Commission Trade Spokesman Olof Gill said in a statement on Tuesday that the European Union strongly opposes protectionist measures that undermine open and fair trade, calling on the United States to reconsider its approach and work on a cooperative solution based on principles that benefit all parties.
