Sana'a - Saba:
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Jamal Amer met today with WFP Resident Representative in Sana'a Pierre Onoura.
The meeting, attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry for International Cooperation, Ambassador Ismail Al-Mutawakel, discussed issues related to the sharp decline in funding provided by the program to Yemen, which no longer meets the minimum needs of the most affected communities as a result of the siege imposed on Yemen by the aggression countries for ten years, compounded by the large quantities of spoiled food aid.
In the meeting, Minister Amer expressed the Government of Change and Construction's regret for the irresponsible and inhumane position of the UN Secretary-General when he announced his decision to suspend humanitarian work in Saada Governorate.
He pointed out that this decision is not befitting of his person and position, despite the respect that the Secretary-General enjoyed from the Yemeni leadership and people for his clear position on the Palestinian issue and his rejection of the war crimes and genocide committed by the Zionist entity in the Gaza Strip.
The Foreign Minister called on the World Food Program to work on resuming its missions in Saada Governorate and cancel the inhumane suspension decision that affects the image and reputation of the United Nations, as it targeted a remote governorate in a developing country suffering from the repercussions of the worst humanitarian disaster in ten years, according to the United Nations classification.
In turn, the Resident Representative of the World Food Program explained that the program's office is working to mobilize more funding for the humanitarian work it is carrying out in Yemen.
