Tunisia - Saba:
After months of treatment, the golden eagle "Aquila" was released in Mount Sidi Zid, northern Tunisia, in preparation for its return to the wild.
The operation was carried out as part of the "Rescue" program of the Tunisian Wildlife Society, which is concerned with rescuing injured wild animals.
The golden eagle was confiscated in July 2024 by the General Directorate of Forests in Gabes. After a rehabilitation period at the farm of environmental expert Reda El Aouni in Sidi Thabet, the eagle is now ready to fly and integrate into nature.
"Aquila" was released during the ideal migration period, giving it the opportunity to find a partner and reproduce next year. This operation is the fourth in a series of "Rescue" operations, which aim to boost the numbers of royal eagles in the country.
