Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), condemned on Wednesday the killing of a UN staff member in an airstrike in the Gaza Strip, where the Israeli occupation has intensified its air raids. He described the incident as "another black day" for the United Nations.
In a post on the platform "X," he stated that the UN agency extends its deepest condolences to their colleagues at the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) for their tragic loss and wishes a speedy recovery to the injured.
He considered the killing and injury of UN staff members in Gaza as "another black day" for the organization, emphasizing the need to protect humanitarian workers at all times.
Lazzarini added: "The United Nations, including UNRWA, continues to pay a heavy price while carrying out its humanitarian duties."
The Israeli enemy resumed its comprehensive aggression on the Gaza Strip at dawn on Tuesday, resulting in over 400 martyrs and hundreds of injuries so far.
