Striker Erling Haaland led Norway to a dominant 5-0 victory over hosts Moldova in the opening round of the European qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Norway made a perfect start in Group I, securing a resounding win in a match held in Chișinău on Saturday.
Julian Ryerson opened the scoring in the 5th minute, before Haaland doubled the lead in the 23rd minute, netting his 39th international goal for Norway.
The remaining goals were scored by Thilo Aasgaard, Alexander Sørloth, and Aron Dønnum.
Haaland, who was substituted in the 78th minute, has now reached 37 goals this season across club and international matches, with 29 goals for Manchester City.
The Norwegian star remains his national team’s all-time top scorer with 39 goals, six ahead of former record-holder Jørgen Juve.
Haaland is determined to help Norway qualify for the World Cup for the first time since 1998.
