A leaked recording has sparked a political and security storm in Israel, after it revealed statements made by the head of the Jewish division of the General Security Service, or Shin Bet, in which he described Zionist settlers in the West Bank as "scoundrels."
The recording, broadcast by Israel's Kan Channel on Saturday evening, stated that the security official said during an internal conversation: "We always strive to detain as many of them as possible for investigation.
We detain these scoundrels, the settlers in the West Bank, for several days, even without evidence." He added that he asked to put them in "cells with rats."
