London - (Saba):
Nearly 40 MPs and members of the British House of Lords have called for an independent and transparent investigation into the UK government's role in the bloody war on the Gaza Strip, amid accusations of London's possible involvement in supporting genocide through arms deals and intelligence cooperation.
This demand, according to the Palestinian Shehab News Agency, came as part of a letter led by former Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn and signed by 37 MPs from various political factions, including members of the Labour Party, the Scottish National Party, the Green Party, Sinn Féin, and Plaid Cypriots, as well as independent MPs.
The signatories accused the British government of complicity in supporting Israeli military operations through arms sales, intelligence sharing, and providing military facilities via Royal Air Force bases in the Greek Cypriot-administered area.
They called for a public and independent investigation with full legal authority to uncover the facts and hold those involved accountable. In a post on the X platform on Wednesday, Corbyn said: "Last month, I wrote to Prime Minister Keir Starmer demanding an independent investigation into British involvement in the Israeli attack on Gaza. Today, this demand is supported by more than 30 MPs. This case will not be forgotten, and we will continue to press until justice is served
