Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi, who moderated the talks between Iran and the United States in Muscat, announced on Saturday that the discussions took place in a "friendly atmosphere."
The talks between Steve Witkoff, the US envoy, and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi concluded after two hours of messages exchanged by al-Busaidi.
In a post in English on the X platform, the Omani Foreign Minister said: "I am proud to announce that today in Muscat, we hosted Iranian Foreign Minister Dr. Seyyed Abbas Araghchi and US Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff, and led a mediation to initiate dialogue and negotiations with the shared goal of concluding a fair and binding agreement."
He added: "I would like to thank my colleagues for this engagement, which took place in a friendly atmosphere that helped bring viewpoints closer and ultimately achieve regional and global peace, security, and stability."
He continued: "We will continue to work together and make further efforts to help achieve this goal."
