Sana'a - Saba:
The General Union of Yemen Trade Unions has strongly condemned the "blatant American aggression" targeting civilian individuals and industrial facilities in Yemen.
In a statement, the Union specifically cited the recent attack on the al-Sawari ceramics factory, nearby homes, and a farm in the Bani Matar district of Sana'a Governorate. The statement alleges that this attack resulted in the "martyrdom" of 36 workers and the injury of 29 others, including women and children.
The Trade Union Federation characterized the targeting of industrial facilities as a "complete war crime" and a "flagrant violation of all international laws and covenants." They described it as a "miserable attempt to destroy the economic structure, impoverish the Yemeni people, and deprive them of the ingredients of a decent life."
The statement asserted that the targeting of factories and civilian establishments "reveals the true criminal face of America, which does not refrain from violating all human values, humanitarian principles and norms."
The Union called upon the international community, human rights and humanitarian organizations, and the Arab and international Labor Organization to take urgent action to condemn these attacks, hold the perpetrators accountable, and ensure they do not escape punishment.
The Trade Union Federation further claimed that the number of "martyrs" and wounded victims of the "American aggression" against civilian targets from March 16 to April 14 has reached 370 workers and citizens, including 123 "martyrs."
The General Union of Yemeni Trade Unions held the American administration fully responsible for its ongoing actions against civilians and its repeated targeting of infrastructure and civilian objects.
Finally, the Federation called on Arab and Islamic peoples to express their condemnation of the "crimes of the American aggression" against the Yemeni people through protests and other forms of public expression.
Note: Initial reports from Saba News Agency following the attack on the Al-Sawari ceramics factory indicated a lower casualty count. A report from April 13th stated 12 civilians were killed and injured, while a later report on April 14th mentioned six "martyrs" and 20 injuries. The figure of 36 deaths cited by the Yemen Trade Union Union in this statement appears to be a later, higher claim.
