Beijing - Saba:
Chinese President Xi Jinping confirmed that protectionism "does not lead to any result" and that "there will be no winners" in any commercial war.
The Chinese News Agency, Shinhua, said on Monday that the Chinese president will start a tour of Southeast Asia to strengthen his country's trade relations and show it as a reliable partner in contrast to the United States, which launched a global trade attack.
Xi is scheduled to visit Vietnam, Malaysia and Cambodia, where his counterparts will meet, according to the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and this will be his first visits for this year outside China.
Xi wrote in the Vietnamese newspaper "Nan Dan", "Our two countries must maintain firmly on the multilateral commercial system, the stability of global industry and supply chains, and an international openness and cooperation environment," according to the official Chinese news agency.
He stressed that "a commercial war and a custom of customs acquaintances will not result in any winner, and the fever does not lead to any result."
The Chinese President's tour comes at a time when the Asian giant is trying to appear as a stable partner in contrast to the United States, whose president, Donald Trump, launched a comprehensive trade attack by imposing new customs customs.
This procedure has shocked the global markets and prompted Beijing to respond similarly.
Shi Vietnam will visit Monday and Tuesday, on his first trip to this country since December 2023.
